Right now, the only coding I do on a regular basis is Bash scripting for sys admin tasks.Īgain, thanks for response and pointing me to a new utility that I might be able to make good use out of.MusicBrainz Picard is a cross-platform (Linux, macOS, Windows) audio tagging application. My Python experience is quite limited when I did actually program code, it was in C/C++ with some Java thrown in for good measure. If you know some Python you could use mutagen I’ll take a look at this as well and see how I can install it on my Mac (daily driver). Beets, interestingly enough, it’s available as a port on FreeBSD, but not on macOS or Windows. One big plus is that it’s cross platform and works on macOS, Windows and FreeBSD. Currently, I’m using Strawberry and while it has some excellent strengths, the interface (for me at least) leaves a lot to be desired. This looks like some good kit especially since I was (recently) looking for a better library tool than what iTunes provides. I don’t know whether it would do exactly what you need, but it often is mentioned when it comes to automating library management I’ll spend a little time and bodge together a PoC and see how the workflow develops. I’m thinking that a simple text file, an array holding the filenames, or even moving the file and folder to a temp location for later processing with Picard might solve this. So it comes down to a single manual operation. Your script could load all the files, then you could save them all in one go. Is there any way to automate saving the file so I can do this process unattended? Unfortunately, that’s as far as it goes because from there, it’s a manual operation. I can automate the launching of Picard with the command open -a "MusicBrainz Picard" and it will launch Picard with audio file loaded and ready to be saved with the new album art. However, to properly embed the cover art, I need to “run it through” Picard. I’ve written a simple bash script (this is on macOS, BTW) that will traverse the directory, and query both the cover.jpg file as well as the audio file to validate the cover art (I’m using GraphicsMagick and ffprobe) and fix it if necessary. For the record, Sony requires album art to be baseline JPGs and not progressive. Consequently, the album art doesn’t show even though it’s present. The reason being is that I have about 5K albums (I haven’t counted the individual songs) and in some of them, the cover art that’s embedded in the audio file isn’t compliant with some of the music players (i.e. I’m looking for a way to execute MusicBrainz Picard entirely via the command line. ![]()

![]() ![]() This doesn’t happen every time we use the Zen Swaddle, but I’ll take what I can get. Can I just tell you how amazing it was for him to sleep til 5 am!!! And then again until 8:30 am!!! Last night, nestled in the Zen Swaddle, Baby Brother went to bed at 9 pm, slept til 5 am when he woke up to eat, and then slept again until 8:30 am. He goes to bed between 8 and 9 pm, wakes up once or twice to eat at night and awakes at about 7:30 am. The Nested Bean website says that mothers using the Zen Swaddle with their babies report that their babies sleep up to 2 hours more per night.īaby Brother has always been a fairly good sleeper. I really love the weighted areas on the abdomen and sides of the blanket. In this position he still feels safe and secure in the embrace of the Zen Swaddle. Usually though, he contents himself with putting his hands up by his face and doesn’t pull his arms all the way out. This may be a drawback for some as it is our easiest swaddle blanket for Baby Brother to break out of. Because the swaddle is made of cotton it has quite a bit of stretch. Like many parents who’ve used the Nested Bean Zen Swaddle we love how soft the cotton swaddle is. Therefore, the Zen Swaddle™ combines the benefits of swaddling and touch to provide a time-tested and truly safe, secure environment for your baby. Touch or simulated touch is medically proven to calm babies by triggering a self soothing response thus improving their ability to regulate stress. Its lightly weighted parts apply gentle pressure on your baby’s sides and center to provide the comfort and security of being held. The Zen Swaddle™ is the only infant swaddle to mimic your touch. I became intrigued as I looked at the Nested Bean website. Nested Bean contacted me several weeks ago and asked if I’d review their Zen Swaddle. If you’re a parent of a colicky baby, or if you’re simply a parent who’d like to get a little more sleep at night then keep on reading. ![]() Well, we recently received a swaddler to review that is unlike any I’ve ever seen. Undistracted participants' eye movements ranged over a much wider area. This led them to miss hazards in their peripheral vision. The study, which tracked eye movements, also found that drivers who were distracted suffered from "visual tunnelling." They tended to focus their eyes on a small central region directly ahead of them. The only 'safe' phone in a car is one that's switched off. The use of hand-held phones was made illegal primarily because they interfere with vehicle control but our study adds to a mounting body of research showing that both hand-held and hands-free phones are dangerously distracting for drivers. "Clearly this research isn't a green light to use hand-held mobile phones while driving, however. The driver may also simply imagine the facial expression of the person they're talking to. The person at the other end of the phone might ask "where did you leave the blue file?", causing the driver to mentally search a remembered room. "Our findings have implications for real-life mobile phone conversations. This visual imagery competes for processing resources with what the driver sees in front of them on the road. Hands-free can be equally distracting because conversations cause the driver to visually imagine what they're talking about. "A popular misconception is that using a mobile phone while driving is safe as long as the driver uses a hands-free phone. Having a conversation which requires the driver to use their visual imagination creates competition for the brain's processing capacity, which results in drivers missing road hazards that they might otherwise have spotted.ĭr Graham Hole, Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Sussex, said: The researchers found that conversations may use more of the brain's visual processing resources than previously understood. ![]() This shows the risks of even hands-free phone conversations.
